WAVI to use Vucurevich Grant for Shelter Renovation

 – By

Rapid City Journal (April 16, 2015): The John T. Vucurevich Foundation has awarded Working Against Violence Inc. a $46,000 grant to help with the remodeling and renovation of the WAVI shelter. WAVI in August launched its "Give Me Shelter" capital campaign, with the goal of raising $225,000 for work on the shelter. Mary Corbine, executive director of WAVI, said the campaign has reached $120,000. The Vucurevich grant will pay for upgrading the shelter's security system. That work is underway, Corbine said, and new beds and mattresses were set up Wednesday. The shelter is 11 years old, and Corbine said the upgrades should ensure another 11 years of serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
