John T. Vucurevich Foundation Announces Grant Awards

Rapid City, SD – The Board of Directors for the John T. Vucurevich Foundation recently awarded the following grants. - Rapid City Arts Council was awarded $450,000 for the expansion of the Dahl Arts Center. - Youth and Family Services received $200,000 for their Girls, Inc. programs. - Rapid City Club for Boys received $200,000 for their programs including their food program. - Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity was awarded $100,000 for start up funding and operational costs for their new RESTORE program. - Working Against Violence (WAVI) received $73,000 in support of their Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault programs. - Allied Arts Fund received $11,000 to benefit the 11 local arts organizations, who are recipients of their annual fund drive. - Dupree Daycare, Inc. in Dupree, South Dakota was awarded $20,000 in funding for their community daycare center. - Consumer Credit Counseling received $5,000 to provide credit counseling and financial literacy education scholarships partnering with Behavior Management Systems working with people who have gambling addiction problems. - Black Hills Community Food Bank was awarded funds to help continue the backpack food program for the upcoming school year. - Ski for Light was awarded $1,000 for their annual event held this past January. The John T. Vucurevich Foundation was established in 1989, and fully funded by its founder, John T. Vucurevich. Since the Foundation bears his name, its ideals and objectives are those most deeply held by Mr. Vucurevich. The mission of the John T. Vucurevich Foundation is to award grants to organizations committed to helping the poor, the distressed and the underprivileged, the advancement of education and science, and promotion of social welfare within South Dakota, with preference given to the West River area and in particular to the Black Hills region.
