John T. Vucurevich Foundation Announces First Quarter 2009 Grants Rapid City, SD - During the first quarter of 2009, the John T. Vucurevich Foundation awarded $161,000 in grants providing assistance in the funding priority areas of arts, education and health and human services. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills, -$10,000 in start-up funding for a Boys & Girls Club in Hot Springs to implement an after school program. Historic Homestake Opera House Society, Lead - $14,650 for the educational programming of the July, 2009 Orlando Chamber Soloists Classical Music Festival. Neighborhood Housing Services of the Black Hills, Deadwood - $15,000 for technology and construction expense for a new classroom. Northern Hills Area CASA, Spearfish - $25,000 to recruit, train and retain CASA volunteers. Twin City Clothing Center, Lead - $5,000 for office/store equipment and program support to operate their volunteer, free thrift store. Wellspring, Rapid City - $19,920 for computers for the Youth Challenge Program, an after school tutoring, mentoring and therapy program. Working Against Violence, Inc., Rapid City - $70,000 for program support and general operations. University of South Dakota2009 Oscar Howe Summer Art Institute - $1,500 for scholarships. The John T. Vucurevich Foundation funding priorities will be in the areas of the arts, education, health and human services, housing and transportation.
