The John T. Vucurevich Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of David Emery to its Board of Directors.

David Emery is the retired Chief Executive Officer and former chairman of the Board of Directors for Black Hills Energy.  During his 29 year career with the company, he led the company through a transformative period of sustained growth, growing from a diversified energy company with 61,000 electric customers to an electric and natural gas utility with 1.25 million customers in 800 communities in eight states.

According to Steve Zellmer, Chairman of the Board, “the John T. Vucurevich Foundation was established in Rapid City in 1985, and fully funded by its founder, John T. Vucurevich. John was a generous philanthropist to a variety of causes during his life and he wanted his philanthropy continued through his Foundation after his death.” 

Other members of the Board of Directors include, Dr. Dale Clement, Thomas Vucurevich, Dr. Eric Abrahamson, Jennifer Trucano and Sandra Diegel. The John T. Vucurevich Foundation honors and builds on the personal legacy of giving of John T. Vucurevich by investing in organizations to enhance the quality of life for disadvantaged individuals and families with an emphasis on building prosperity from cradle to career. 

Our focus within South Dakota is the West River area, in particular the Black Hills region.
